ser•en•dip•i•ty |ˌserənˈdipitē|

September 22, 2010

noun. the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

I’m filled with motivation after reading a post on Pamela Slim’s blog about a woman named Elana Carter. I helped design Elana’s website some time ago while working together with my friend Willie Jackson. Willie managed the project so I didn’t have much of an opportunity to connect with Elana at the time. And I really didn’t know anything about her story. So after reading Pamela’s post, now I know more. Reading about people who leave careers to create businesses is inspiring. And ironically, Elana and I really just started communicating for the first time a few days ago.

Which leads me to Willie. Willie has a good story too. Willie left an unfulfilling job so that he could build his own business empire. And he has a knack for offering ridiculously accurate insight. A lot of the reason I do what I do now is the result of some advice I received from him. I’m a person who usually takes outside advice with a grain of salt, but if he’s talking you better listen up.

So after reading Pamela’s post, it’s exciting to look back now and understand where Elana, Willie, and I started, see where we are now, and see where we all might be headed.
