State Your Purpose

by Chris on September 7, 2010

Who goes there?

Are you a writer? A web designer? A salesman? Maybe a doctor or a nurse? No matter what it is you do, there sure are a whole lot of others doing it too. I’ve been asked before, why would you want to do that? There is one of those on every corner. Or, I don’t know, Chris, that’s a really competitive field. Well, find me one that isn’t…

It’s the little things that set us apart. The colors on our business cards, or the way we answer the phone. Our attention to detail. The smallest things are what truly make us unique in business. The difference between winning a deal and not winning a deal could simply be a please and a thank you.

But for the most successful, it isn’t even about the deal at all. And the path to success isn’t necessarily about how we do it. It’s about why we do what we do. It’s about the purpose and the reasons that drive us to work hard everyday. Cream rises to the top, and if you are passionate enough about what you do, and driven by sincere purpose, then anything is possible.

So, what are you going to do today to rise above?

Process paper and emails efficiently and promptly. I’m in total agreement: it’s the tiny things that either make or break you. One email that slides through that is time-sensitive can cause me to miss a deadline I didn’t even know I had. One haphazardly written down note from a phone call that doesn’t get into my processing system can derail a client relationship.

No doubt, Brett. These little things make all the big differences. Thanks for droppin’ by!
