Your Economy

October 13, 2010

Everywhere I turn, I hear about the bad economy. The worst recession since the Great Depression. I read an article just this morning on Fox News about the foreclosure mess deepening. The housing market sucks, unemployment sucks, government sucks, taxes suck, business is down, business sucks. You know what doesn’t suck? Freedom. We’ve heard it all, and I’m sick of hearing all about it. I’m not going to take the time to look up facts and statistics, but I’ll go out on a limb and assume we are still some of the more well-off people in the world. And we’re free. I’m in Starbucks while I write this and as I look across the way, there is a guy driving a Porsche Cayenne. While it could be smoke and mirrors, I’ll just assume that his economy is going pretty well.

The recession ends with us. Your recession ends with you. There is plenty that can be done to make our own economies better. We have choices.

Enough with the complacency and the waiting! Things aren’t going to get better until we make them better. The government isn’t going to bail us out, we have to bail ourselves out. Out of work? Create work. We all have mad skills at something. Put those skills to work for yourself. Got work? Create more. Create something. What can you give to the world? Sick of the government? Quit complaining on facebook and run for office. Better yet, volunteer. By and large people seem to be asleep at the wheel. It’s time to wake up, or we’re going to miss a whole revolution.
